When South Vietnam finally fell to the communist North in 1975 she declared it would never have happened had the Ngo family retained their power. In later years she lived both in Rome and in the South of France. Her elder daughter was killed in a road accident in Paris in 1967. She is survived by her younger daughter and by two sons. Madame Ngo Dinh Nhu, First Lady of South Vietnam, 1955-63, was born on April 15, 1924.
